Cashmere Specials #2 Generative Sonic Screen

Decentralized sound refers to the idea that the creative process no longer relies on a single centralized institution, but, instead, develops concepts about sound through diverse participants or automated systems. This trend has the potential to decentralize the power and creativity of sound creation to various sources, including artificial intelligence which is unique in sound creation. It can analyze vast amounts of data, calculate theory, melody, harmony, rhythm and other elements, and through which generates new segments or sound effects. Such technology increases the flexibility and diversity of sound creation while also providing inspiration.   "#2 Generative Sonic Screen" is the latest sound work by sound research collective "Sonic Screen." This work combines generative artificial intelligence and prompts to build fundamental sound consistency, which is then blended together to produce the final musical work. The prompts include queries regarding decentralized sound, which resulted in AI-generated sound responses. These responses represents AI’s thinking and how we shall comprehend decentralization.  The generated sounds can be regarded as the expression of the concept of decentralization by the algorithm. The work “#2 Generative Sonic Screen" is an experiment with a sound creation model that explores the role of artificial intelligence in music composition, methods of producing decentralized sound art, and pushing the boundaries of traditional music creation.   The collective Sonic Screen 聲介面 is composed of five researchers and creators, including Shih-yu Hsu, Wu Chi-Yu, Shen Sum-Sum, Musquiqui Chihying, and Yu-Chieh Li. This creative project is supported by “Visual Arts Criticism Project” by the National Culture and Arts Foundation and the Winsing Arts Foundation in Taiwan.  More articles by Sonic Screen can be accessed here: http://www.onscreentoday.com/views http://www.onscreentoday.com/view/2022-03-06-a-meta-text-in-the-sonic-metaverse?lang=chnt
