Trouble in Paradise welcomes you to their first LIVE event at Cashmere radio featuring Alifiyah Imani, Teplice and Laura Not
Alifiyah Imani is a sound artist and writer. In her artistic practice, she interrelates sonic experiences through various media and forms, working primarily with sensory listening rituals through installation, electroacoustic music, and experimental radio. Locating sound as lived and relational process, she explores the nuances of drones, harmonics, and overtone colourations in different instruments and voice, using these sonic nuances as compositional structures in her work.
As a radio-maker, producer, vocalist, and lecturing researcher at Berlin’s Freie Universität, Matilda Jones combines various sound endeavours under the alias ‘Teplice’ with work towards a PhD that explores sonic innovations in digital culture. In addition to academic publication in the Journal for the Study of British Cultures, Jones’ music has played on BBC Radio 6 Music, NTS Radio, Worldwide FM and Refuge Worldwide as well as featuring in Mixmag, The Guardian, Dazed, Ransom Note, and Stamp the Wax. Her co-hosted show Trouble in Paradise airs monthly on Cashmere Radio.
Laura Not is an artist, dj and radio host. She hosts the thematic show (x)=musik on Lyl Radio and has released experimental music on labels such as Kashual Plastik or Industrial Coast. Behind the decks, Laura likes to call herself a sound-collagist. Her sets reflect collage techniques, cutting and splicing different music sources to create a new idiosyncratic soundscape.
