Undeterred by encounters with cottonmouth snakes, slingshot wielding youth and rabid pawpaw pickers, the intrepid Pierrot Desperes, armed with a field recorder and contact microphones, captured all the sounds featured on these tracks from the air or from resonant objects in the Meramec Greenway, west of Missouri Route 141, from August 29, 2020 to October 31, 2020. Some sounds were left alone while others had to have their grist milled with granular synthesis.

The Meramec Greenway is a patchwork collection of upcycled Superfund sites, repurposed railroad right-of-ways, haunted abandoned roads and decommissioned gravel dredging operations curated to preserve open space around the Meramec River in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. It contains a network of trails that pass the crumbling concrete ruins of early 20th century resorts, clubs and speakeasies, connecting parks, boat launches, athletic fields and light industry.

From atop Ozark View in St. Louis, Missouri, Pierrot Desperes creates experimental sound works utilizing field recordings, granular synthesis, tape loops, analog synthesizers and electric tenor guitar (+effects).
