The Memphis blues is another one of those important styles that warranted a revisit. This usually upbeat and danceable form of the blues that was originally popular in vaudeville and medicine shows. In its early stages it ranged from a variation of the surrounding acoustic guitar-based styles to jug-band arrangements. In later decades it developed into a loud form of the electric blues. Many great musicians played the clubs in this city and many classics were also recorded there.
