As a slight deviation from the usual content, this show covers the Blues not as a genre but rather a form of composition in the context of jazz music. The 12-bar or 16-bar musical form inherent to the Blues genre is built upon and used as a basis for improvisation. This is most commonly heard in the ‘Bebop era’ of Jazz music and includes many well-known jazz standards by household names such as Duke Ellington and Herbie Hancock.
