BENGAWAN SOLO is a river in Indonesia, but also a song made famous during Japanese colonial times in Indonesia. A Japanese POW takes the song back with him to Japan, which gained in popularity relatively quickly. Many in Japan thought that this was a Japanese song, until it was recognised to be Indonesian.
A brief historical recount of songs from then, and then zooming back to today.
