sleep ache suite is a collection of 9 works by Coco Klockner (under her performance/recording moniker flashlight o) originally commissioned for inclusion in Nile Koetting's 2022 Downtime Salon project for Musik Intallationen Nuernberg, an installation of improvised sleeping quarters set in the Steinbühl S-bahn station.

The collection riffs on motifs from some of the unsuspecting monoliths of background music (BGM) such as the repeating tone in Haruomi Hosono's 1984 album, Hana ni Mizu, that was originally commissioned by Muji–all while other otherwise spiraling into the looping headspace inherent to insomnia and the various mental states endured by the wakeful.

Within this, a relationship between pop music and more meditative works emerges: in 7 (music for delay and passing cars), the subwoofers and horns regularly heard emerging from the intersection that the musician’s home perches over in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York become incorporated as collaborators within the composition; in 6 (for khia), the chorus of "My Neck, My Back (Lick it)" (2001) by Khia finds itself interpolated into a composition approaching something akin to pop music for sleep paralysis.
