Amongst other amazing new releases, this month’s Astral Traveling episode saw me focussing mostly on the amazingly vivid South African Jazz scene. A lot has been happening there in the last few years and with new music by the likes of Linda Sikhakhane, Spaza, Nduduzo Makhatini and more coming out in the last months, it doesn’t seem to be stopping soon.

Also included in this month’s show is an excerpt from Angel Bat Dawid’s LIVE – an album recorded during a live performance at Jazzfest Berlin – and surely one of the most memorable releases this year. Take some of the ninety minutes of this show to read her amazing interview where she talks about this album, institutional racism in Europe, music as prayer and much more for Tone Glow.
