when patti smith sings pissing in the river she sings of an outpouring of love seemingly insignificant to the flow of time, her piss, her love, diluted in an endless stream without consequence. When i wrote most of this music I was trapped in Krems during an historic flood, reeling in the stench of genocide, breathing the same air across the street from one of austria’s most disgusting criminals.
