Josef Strau
(born 1957 in Vienna) has been working for more than 30 years with various concepts of text production and their relationship to artistic work. His practice is as much based on the written word as it is characterised by repeated role changes. As ‘an artist who writes and a writer who makes art’, Strau combines the diary-like with the theoretical and fictional in his texts and questions the concepts of authorship and subjectivity.
