In this month’s episode you’ll be hearing some Field recordings from Chile, during the protests, local island women in their homes, the sound of the chucao bird, whose song I love, music and recordings read and translated by the artist himself, Ivan Melnick, and letters to NK and from NK concerning Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño Ávalos. Along with selected excerpts from Bolaño’s novels.
Ivan Melnick is an interdisciplinary artist who develops his concepts through painting, writing and music. “For me all the arts are integral. It is finally about developing an aesthetic. I am intrigued and absorbed by the mysterious and the unconscious human as well as their motivations. but mainly I seek to create puzzling atmospheres in my writings and my music; That feeling of entering the unknown about to lose track of reality and time. The atmospheres can be calm and soothing, or frightening, because that duality that speaks of life and death is what great art should create. With regard to my musical project, we take inspiration from the dark wave and the synnth wave mixed with rock and poetic and deep lyrics. also trying to create traveling and disconcerting atmospheres in each of our songs. We are Dead Classcical.”
NK is a writer and a poet who will be reading from Bolaño’s work, as mentioned above, from her letters, and sharing something sensitive, deeply personal, political and straight forward to our audience.
