Recorded: late April 2019, Cimetière d’Urt, France; grave ID 11449805: Roland Barthes (1915–1980). Taking a cue from Barthes’ Fragments d’un discours amoureux, “[t]he necessity of” CSC #17 “is to be found in the following consideration: that the lover’s discourse is today of an extreme solitude. […] What is proposed, then, is a portrait – […] a structural one which offers the” listener “a discursive site: the site of someone speaking within himself, amorously, confronting the other (the loved object), who does not speak.” CSC #17 as lover’s discourse marries fragments of music with fragments of a lover’s language – “figures,” as it were, without order or logic. Let yourself be befallen and listen closely and repetitiously in the name of “love’s fruition.”
