Dreamboat #13: Prince Caspian

There are those who say they just want to “have a good time,” claiming that one’s enjoyment should be exempt from value judgements. And then there are listeners of this show in the know, who understand that having an opinion can also be a good (way to pass) the time. After all, there’s an inherent assessment built into your favourite morning show: not every cutter is a dreamboat. This week’s Dreamboat of the Week (DOW) goes to Zola for sailing against the current of linear time. In this particular iteration of the morning show on the week’s most underrated temporal entity, your favourite skippers (note to self: take it easy on the nautical metaphors here, otherwise there’ll be a calm soon) warm up their discriminative minds with the question of social distinction through email addresses. Later, they find themselves feeling not too bad about being judgey while listening to auctioneers shred the self-image of people parading their prized possessions on Antiques Roadshow – a detour prompted by a less well-prepared interlude on the Bayeux Tapestry (but here again, we don’t judge). Dan and Leo end the show on a high note by discussing the notion of shame. Because when the argument that my @ is more encrypted than yours doesn’t hold up, you can always simply shame someone for their @gmail.
