EXOS FROM ANARRES (Special Guest AEMLX)

12 June 2025
  • Experimental
  • Dreamy

One spring day years ago, we were squatting in a building. I remember some people were busy writing political statements for newspapers, while others were dealing with the police. Some were decorating rooms and fixing ceilings. Some of us sang and played the guitar. It smelled of sweat and rain. But I especially remember one girl brushing her friend's, or maybe her lover's, hair with immense joy, and I couldn't stop looking at her. An angry guy started complaining that people were just there to flirt and have fun. He said that not enough people were committed to the cause because this is not how politics work.

'This is not how politics work?' I thought. But aren't we here together, squatting in this building? Aren't we meant to be here forever? If we're going to be here for a long time, this space has to be beautiful. It can't have water dripping from the ceiling. If we can fix it, it has to be habitable and able to accommodate all sorts of people: people flirting, grandmothers, children, and so on. It has to have music and us all together, my sister and I, singing. And it has to be fun. 🙂

THAT IS WHY WE LOVE EL BLOQUE LATINO IN A DEMO IN BERLIN!

Larga vida al Bloque Latino en Berlin!

Tonight at Cashmere, my friend Emilia (AEMLX) will join me on a boat full of sound utopias and beautiful political poetry, as always. 🙂
