On this episode of Fantasy Fiction radio , we will be exploring the works of Kiwi sonic herbologist ~ Douglas Lilburn. Presenting field recordings and found recordings of New Zealand’s natural landscape, we will be mixing these with ambient and exotica flavours. The recordings Mitch have chosen for this work were all recorded in his hometown of Waihi Beach this past Feb/ March, mainly untreated recordings of native bush where native birds like the Tui and Kiwi flourish . Cosmic Palms made a series of effected bird songs in the Lilburn style, using field recorded material that has then been processed through analog and digital means. We then jammed these sounds in a live context at arkaoda Berlin. We hope your enjoy the results and appreciate the sounds of our wonderful natural world, if you want to find out more about projects in sustaining New Zealand’s natural landscape visit the New Zealand Department of Conservation website. Be sure to look into Douglas and his work ~ his electro acoustic works are largely overlooked and are quite incredible. Sit back and enjoy x
