Fictions #10 with Gigsta – The Think Break Special

A few months ago, I realized that I had so many records sampling the Think break in my collection. It made me want to dig deeper and first thing, I let myself being completely charmed by Lyn Collins. On the album that I am holding in my hands on the picture, she sings a song called “Women’s Lib” which gave me a lot of strength.

I then started listening to more music using the track, reading about sampling and exchanging with some producers. It’s been an amazing adventure through the history of recent popular music from soul to hip hop, from acid house to breakbeat, from jungle to IDM and ending somewhere between house and techno. Not only did I discover amazing music, started listening to sampling differently and draw connections between very different music but it also became a way to see the records that I had been familiar with under a whole different light.
