“Today on the show I’ll be speaking with composer and musician, Stefan Maier. Stefan has a background in classical and new music but over the last few years has branched out quite bit from that starting point. he finds himself more and more in the world of media art and electronic music where he works with video and AI and works collaboratively with other artists as well as technologists. This works is also not book shy, there is often a heavy theoretical approach in each body of work and today we’ll be interrogating the agency of musical agents, and by that I mean, not just the composers themselves, but the players, instruments, and perhaps in some way even the listeners. If psychoacoustics, anthropomorphissation, and phenomenology is your thing you’re going to want to crank that dial. 

I’d like to keep this introduction somewhat condensed so we can get right into it. On the show today you’ll hear a number of Stephan’s pieces which I wanted to include as much of as possible in this hour, as well excerpts of what was I much longer conversation, I wish I could share it all – maybe it will go on soundcloud later down the line – but for now, I say we jump right into it.”
