Listen To The Whales #4 with Matty Martinez and Colin Black

For this episode of Listen to the Whales, Australian composer, sound artist and radio artist Colin Black will join Matty Martinez at the station for a talk about his experiences and approaches to radio practice, following up with a performance of his work “In And Out Of The Air.”

“In And Out Of The Air” explores the idea of humans acting like antennas, constantly receiving sounds and mediated information who also act like dysfunctional storage and re-transmission devices. With this improvised work Black suggests that media is not separate to us but is a like wireless cybernetic implant that slowly dissolves our own real memories into other memories, that are blended with even further memories; a fracturing inner landscape where identity becomes confused in a Morpheus induced media massage.
