Museum as Crimes Scenes – Introduction

The continuation of a conversation between curator Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung and Ariella Azoulay, Natasha Ginwala, Folakunle Oshun, Maria Berrios moderated by Jonas Tinius, as part of the Latitude on Air festival in June 2020. Together, they unpack complex histories and genealogies of museums, discuss issues of crime and injustice, restitution and possible spaces of reconciliation. Speaking from within particular experiences and infrastructures, they problematise the continuities of the modernist, modern entanglement within colonial infrastructures of display and collecting, asking what, if any, form of repair is possible.
