OM – Organic Minimalism # 181 – Meakusma Festival 2026 Special

Welcome to the new edition of OM – Organic Minimalism. This time, we’re celebrating the Meakusma Festival 2026, which took place on the first weekend of September in the small Belgian town of Eupen. In many ways, Meakusma is one of the best festivals I know: the lineup is wonderfully curated; the musicians enjoy using this sonic playground for extraordinary and surprising performances; the atmosphere is very intimate; the audience is open to all kinds of musical experimentation; and there’s a fantastic team of volunteers. The whole festival radiates a unique, magical atmosphere.

Eight years after founding their label, the two friends Michael Kreitz and Christophe Huyon launched the festival in 2016 in collaboration with their wider circle of friends. Since then, it has become an essential destination on the musical map for many. To ensure that the festival remains enjoyable for everyone, the number of tickets is strictly limited.

For everyone who wasn’t able to get their hands on one of these highly sought-after tickets, and for those who were there, I’ve put together this programme as an imaginary 90-minute journey through Meakusma-Land. Of course, it represents only a small selection of the more than 140 acts. I’ll be leaving out any commentary on this show so that you can experience the music in all its richness without interruption. Enjoy!
