Taking inspiration from Shane Meadows’ film and TV masterpiece This Is England, this episode will explore the music from some of England’s pivotal musical moments during the 80s and early 90s. Politically charged, and flashing between scenes of anarchic humour and horrific violence, This Is England is a bittersweet look at life through the eyes of a bunch of skinheads growing up in working class Britain in the early ‘80s. This lost gang of kids are coming of age in Thatcher’s Britain, getting drunk and falling in and out of love, while a tide of nationalism rises ominously in the background.
