Portals ‘Surface Tension #2’ with Lito Kattou

As part of the exhibition Surface Tension at goeben Berlin (18.01.2020—22.02.2020) Lito presents her real time video Red Lake (2017). The video features a fictional character called San, an Artificial Intelligence conceived by the artist, inhabiting the simulated environment of an ancient copper mine in Cyprus. The video’s narrative is driven by real-time climatic data collected from the geographical area. We discuss alienating landscapes, adaptive intelligence and a not so dark outlook to the future.
