Axis Mundi Sound Distribution System is an ever-evolving modular sculpture designed to emit, reflect, and direct (ultra)sonic waves to space from single axis between the Heaven and the Earth. The singular axis with circular positioning of the audience reimagines the ways of sound distribution, challenging the typical hierarchy of stage performances. It also allows the performer to be in total control of the sonic experience, since it is self-sufficient and doesn't require external PA. It can even run on 12V batteries and solar power, making it independent from the electric grid as well.
Jonas Gruska was born in Czechoslovakia. Studied at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague (Netherlands) and at Music Academy in Cracow (Poland). His main focus is chaotic and polymetric rhythms, unconventional tunings, exploration of psychoacoustic properties of sound and field recording.
