The hot, shifting sands of the Sahara is the scene of this caravan as the Sheik crosses the desert. The camels sway to and fro, up and down the dunes of the desert, passing the nomadic Arab tents. The oasis found, the Sheik enters his tent.
In der heutigen Sendung geht es um das legendäre Stück ‘Caravan’, komponiert von Duke Ellington’s Posaunisten Juan Tizol 1936 und erstmals von Ellington und seinem Orchester aufgenommen am 14. Mai 1937. Es gilt als einer der größten Hits Ellington’s und wurde bis heute über 350 mal von verschiedensten Künstlern in den unterschiedlichsten Stilrichtungen interpretiert.
