The Weirding Module listens in to spoken word and the voice in contemporary art and experimental music. In this edition Nathan Gray interviews Mariana Carvalho and Nico Sauer two artists who deal with the visceral aspect of the vocal tract utilising various techniques and technologies to sonify the internal spaces that give voices their character. From the mouth to the stomach via the sinuses, nose, throat, lungs and skull our bodies are a network of resonating chambers, vessels which give their shapes to our voice as if it were a liquid.
You can hear Mariana and Nico's performances on The Cashmere Special: Art's Birthday, 2025
