This is my soundtrack to the New Year. It hops around a fair bit – mostly through old favourites from my record collecting days many moons ago. I tried to select music that somehow resonates with the New Year and the feeling of arriving in 2026. But I’ll let the tracks speak for themselves, and instead leave you with a nice message that Burial sent to Mary Ann Hobbs on BBC Radio 6 about Rival Dealer, the EP containing “Come Down to Us” (which is the ultimate new year tune in my opinion).

“I wanted the tunes to be anti-bullying tunes that could maybe help someone to believe in themselves, to not be afraid, and to not give up, and to know that someone out there cares and is looking out for them. So it’s like an angel’s spell to protect them against the unkind people, the dark times, and the self-doubts.”

Thanks for listening. Peace and goodwill to all!
