This month it is our great pleasure to present an interview with Matt and Mark Thibideau. The Canadian twins have been producing and performing live for over three decades, plying a deep and atmospheric sound that ranges from orthodox dub techno through to more minimal and house-inflected tracks, ambient and downtempo. But as you'll hear, they're not too bothered about genre – just don't call it Tech House. Amongst other things we discussed their early years in the south-east of Ontario, a stones throw from Windsor and Detroit, finding a home on Falko Brocksieper and M.I.A's Sub Static label in the early 2000s, the challenges of playing live with hardware, and how they conceive of projects for their label, Obsolete Components.
