Òrain Luaidh

Òrain Luaidh are Scottish folk songs, traditionally sung in Gaelic by women while waulking cloth.

This contribution to the archive is an excerpt of the whole show, featuring two songs:

Bodachan cha phos mi sung by Mrs Martin & Chorus

Gur e mo ghille dubh-dhonn sung by Nan Buchanan & Chorus

The recordings were made by The University of Edinburgh’s School of Scottish Studies.
