Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju

Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju

Active at Cashmere Radio across October and November of 2022, visual artist and writer Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju continues to explore her complex crossovers of the semantic and somatic, developing a transdisciplinary practice that confronts the distortions of oppressive structures, while offering avenues toward collective and embodied healing.

As part of the residency, Ilupeju will produce an audio book of her recently published text Earnestly, accompanied by sonic interludes from herself, Alice Z Jones and Eddington Again, as well as facilitate Resonant Limbs: A Radiophonic Writing Workshop, exploring how to conceive of a voice not only as an extension of the body, but the body itself.

Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju is a Nigerian-American artist and writer based in Berlin and New York. Ilupeju graduated with distinction from New York University, where she studied studio art and social and cultural analysis. She is also an alumna of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She has done curatorial and editorial work with SAVVY Contemporary and Archive Books, among others.
