long for warmth as the lights seem to be a huddle of hoards, a snug multitude

– Feist

The Ear Has To Travel returns to the airwaves with a show dedicated to Longing – that feeling coloured by the blue of distance, binding pleasure and pain, present and future.

After two years marked by isolation, The Ear Has To Travel dedicates its contribution to Intimate Connections to the way songs can make us feel connected across all sorts of distances and how those distances themselves can be owned and cherished in lyrics about longing.

Send your ears on a journey inwards with a collage of songs, field recordings and readings featuring music by TEHTT mainstays like Feist, Tiny Ruins and Nick Drake, as well as new discoveries like Midwife, Julie Byrne and Eliza Edens, all framed with field recordings from places not traveled to in the past two years.

The Ear Has To Travel is a journey in song, a series of sonic peregrinations, sounding out songwriting as a „small form“ of literature.
