On Saturday April 6 Cashmere Radio was invited to Laila Gallery to present “Radio as Social Sculpture” for the second Australian iteration of this special live radio format, following a previous performance in Melbourne. 12 hours of radio were performed and formed in situ and online, acting as both sender and receiver, enacting radio as social and collective practice. The program brought together live and curated radio contributions from artists and musicians from Berlin and Sydney, ranging from in-situ performances, readings, archival presentations and interviews to music shows and DJs.
“Radio as Social Sculpture” is an ongoing special live performance format and begun by Cashmere Radio in 2020 which has been performed in a number of iterations and also became a residency program.
This iteration is curated and organised by Daniel Gottlieb, Jackie Grassmann, Max Grau, Leonie Huber, Amir Saifullin and Inga Charlotte Thiele in collaboration with Laila Gallery directed by Seamus Heidenreich and Yarran Gatsby.
The show featured guests including:
Gerald McMaster, T. Morimoto, DJ Plead, Isabelle Sully, UTILITY, Andrew Varano
