At the beginning of Spice Recs, I wasn’t sure where I was headed. It became clear, however, that my journey would naturally evolve towards embracing political voice through improvisation and political sound. And now, I’m certain that connection will continue to shape this season.
I’m incredibly excited to kick off the new season of Spice Recs, a show that grew in ways I didn’t expect over the last semester. After spending some time in Berlin, I’m eager to explore the fusion of electronic experimentation with the traditional sound of my kanun, an instrument that’s come to represent a bridge between my personal experience and the world around me.
The kanun is no longer just an instrument for me – it’s a tool for expressing and translating my thoughts, emotions, and reflections, especially in this new city. Through improvisation and sound exploration, I’ll share the moments that shape my journey, from daily recordings to live, spontaneous sessions. Guests, experimental mixes, and moments of live creativity will also be part of the mix, creating an ongoing dialogue between me, the audience, and the broader cultural landscape.
Spice Recs has always been a space for open exchange, and this season will be no different. It’s a place where your thoughts, your sounds, and your energy can intertwine with mine to create something unique. The show is a constant invitation for participation, and I look forward to seeing where this collaborative space will take us.
